Occupational Therapists (OT) can support children to join in (participate in) every day activities (occupations) to help them lead a full and happy life, reach their goals and learn the skills they will need during their life in order to be an active member of their community. OTs do this by thinking about your child, the occupation and the environment. If these three things are not working together then it can be hard to take part in what you need and want to do.
The OT gets to know the child and family to find out what is important to them and what is good or challenging in their daily lives - this forms the goals to work on during the therapy sessions. OTs may work with your child in clinic, at school or at home. This depends on what the OT goal is.
